Non-Hermitian skin effect edge

نویسندگان

چکیده

Non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE) is a unique phenomenon studied intensively in non-Hermitian systems during the past few years. In this work, we discuss energy dependence of NHSE by introducing nonreciprocity beyond nearest-neighboring hopping one-dimensional lattices. The direction reverses as eigenenergy system under open boundary conditions (OBCs) sweeps across some critical energies. To characterize such phenomenon, introduce concept edges, which separate eigenstates localized at opposite ends lattice OBC spectrum. We find edges are determined self-intersections spectrum periodic (PBCs), topological winding number PBC changes sign when crossing them. Moreover, will disappear merge into single point tuning parameters. Our work reveals intricate interplay between and nonreciprocal systems.

Gauging non-Hermitian Hamiltonians

We address the problem of coupling non-Hermitian systems, treated as fundamental rather than effective theories, to the electromagnetic field. In such theories the observables are not the x and p appearing in the Hamiltonian, but quantities X and P constructed by means of the metric operator. Following the analogous procedure of gauging a global symmetry in Hermitian quantum mechanics we find t...

Non-hermitian quantum thermodynamics.

Thermodynamics is the phenomenological theory of heat and work. Here we analyze to what extent quantum thermodynamic relations are immune to the underlying mathematical formulation of quantum mechanics. As a main result, we show that the Jarzynski equality holds true for all non-hermitian quantum systems with real spectrum. This equality expresses the second law of thermodynamics for isothermal...

An Equivalent Hermitian Hamiltonian for the non-Hermitian −x4 Potential

The potential V (x) = −x4, which is unbounded below on the real line, can give rise to a well-posed bound state problem when x is taken on a contour in the lower-half complex plane. It is then PT symmetric rather than Hermitian. Nonetheless it has been shown numerically to have a real spectrum, and a proof of reality, involving the correspondence between ordinary differential equations and inte...

Physiol. 214 (4) : 719-724. 1968.-When frog skin is mounted between conventional chambers, some of the tissue in the exposed area is damaged by stresses imposed by the clamping process. It has been possible to measure the extent and characteristics of this damaged region by systematica...

Wigner surmise for Hermitian and non-Hermitian chiral random matrices.

We use the idea of a Wigner surmise to compute approximate distributions of the first eigenvalue in chiral random matrix theory, for both real and complex eigenvalues. Testing against known results for zero and maximal non-Hermiticity in the microscopic large- N limit, we find an excellent agreement valid for a small number of exact zero eigenvalues. Compact expressions are derived for real eig...
